Book of Poems #3

Persona non grata

   Leave!

You're not welcome here.

  Leave!

You wanted to have it your way.

You did it your way.

Now you're on your way.

Leave!

Making humans obsolete

I'm not impressed

With your flying drones

And your driverless cars.

I'm not impressed

With your robot doctor

Replacing the good doctor,

Your robot lawyer

Replacing my lawyer down the street.

I'm not impressed

with your voice-activated

Multi-tasking Personal assistant.

When automation and robotization

take over completely the everyday life

We know what is happening:

Making humans obsolete

And forcing them to live

On universal income

In lockdown cities.

Birdwatcher

I think of you

And I think of a bird

Sometimes wild

sometimes crazy

Sometimes flying gracefully

Throughout the blue sky

Of my heart.

My stratosphere

Just beat time

Over my sunshine Florida

It just happens

Like a light bulb

That suddenly came on

I set you free

As much as I adore you

Throughout the blue sky

Of my heart.

The prostitute and the wise man

A wise man embarked on a journey

To turn a beautiful and young prostitute

In New York City as a housewife.

As noble as this sounds,

This was a daunting and perfidious enterprise.

Being irresistibly enamored with her,

He cherished that thought

To the point of obsession.

He shared his secret desire with her

She proved to him

There's no secret

There's no desire

No one can deny and go against

How she defines and perceives herself:

A free bird, a freelancer, a free spirit,

A thrill-seeker, a pleasure-seeker,

An adventure-seeker, a risk-seeker...

Believing by giving her more than she earned,

More than she could ever imagine,

He can lure her from the street

Offered her a house and later made her a wife,

She flat out refused his tempting money.

She believed with raunchy dating sites,

Direct messages, sexting, and her cell phone.

She has all she needs to ride it out

Until she meets a billionaire in the city.

She will marry him, then divorce him

And grab half of his fortune.

Who is the fool in this story?

This was a love affair gone wrong.
